As you can tell in the pictures below, Macy had fun playing in the closet during our first Tornado warning :)

Mommy, can we play in here again?

We have had a very weird month of weather here in North Texas. Yesterday, I got to witness my first tornado warning. We have had numerous tornado watches, but never a warning since we have moved here. So, I have never had to "duck and cover!" Yesterday, while Macy was sleeping I was working on planning her birthday party. I was working in the study and didn't have the TV on. Travis called me to let me know there was hail and a severe thunderstorm warning for our city and he wanted to make sure I had the car in the garage. I said, "Really, Are you sure? I have all the windows open and it is beautiful outside!" So, I went around closing all the windows. It was immediately starting to get darker outside. Before I even closed all the windows, Travis called back and told me there was a tornado warning for here. He told me to turn on the TV quickly. So, I immediately turned it on and right there on the TV our little city was covered in red and the meteorologist was saying if you live anywhere in the red area you should be in the lowest area of your house right now. I RAN upstairs, grabbed Macy from sleeping, grabbed as many toys as I could hold, my purse, drinks and ran into our closet. At first, Macy was a little panicked because I was running. But, once we got in the closet, she had a BLAST! She had fun rearranging our closet :) She didn't think twice about why we were playing in the closet...too funny! I guess she thought Mommy wanted a change in the environment. I grabbed my camera from my purse to take some pictures of her :) A Kodak moment for sure...our first Tornado warning! Then, Travis and my mom called me to tell me the warning was over for our area and it had passed over. The weather report in the evening said there were funnel clouds reported in our area, but a tornado didn't touch ground. Here is a You Tube Video of the funnel clouds very close to our house. Someone forwarded this video to Travis from work. I'm so GLAD Travis called me and warned me since I was oblivious to what was going on :)
Note to self: Buy Weather Radio!!
I need to buy one of those radios that alerts you anytime there is a warning in your area!

SO glad that's over! Macy looks so big girl in those pics!!! BTW, I love how there are people walking around while that cloud is right above them in the video! What the heck??? Crazy Texans!
Looks like Macy is in for a severe weather lecture from her aunt Haddy...Macy was certainly not taking the severe weather warnings seriously and was not nearly as prepared as she should have been...Right Hadley!!!
