Sandtart Cookies

Another tradition we have is making sandtart cookies every year with my family. My parents started this tradition right after they got married and have done it every year since. My Mom LOVES Christmas time! Now you know where I get it from!! She has started so many wonderful traditions with me and my sisters that we still do every year. I'm so happy to pass them onto my girls and start some new ones, too! We have SO much fun together! We definitely keep busy in December! I had to explain to Travis early on in our relationship that he is marrying into The Griswold Family.....which by the way is one of my favorite Christmas movies...are you surprised?!

Mommy & Her Girls :)

Each person has a job in this cookie baking process. My mom makes the dough. It is a Pennsylvania Dutch family recipe. My Dad and Meghan roll the dough and cut out the cookies. Travis puts the egg whites on the cookies. Hadley and Macy decorate the cookies. My mom runs the oven. Which job do I do? I'm not really sure...it's the big running joke in my family that I'm not given a job....I used to help decorate but now Macy took over. I think maybe I'm best at just socializing with everyone while they are working ;) Another rule about sandtart day is everyone has to wear a Christmas shirt! Some years, we all wear the same shirt. One year Hadley made us all shirts. This year, everyone just picked one to wear for that day. I think my favorite was Pops...it said "I'm on Santa's Diet" with a picture of milk and cookies.

Pops gave Macy a try at rolling.

Decorating Queens

Yes, Travis is even wearing a Hoho shirt. He wears a jacket over it on the way there and brings a shirt to change into before he leaves my parents' house...but hey he wears it to make cookies. I simply told him he is not allowed to be a grinch :)
