The Paci Fairy Visits

Macy is getting sooo close to turning two! We always said we wanted to get rid of her pacifiers before she turned two. So, I have been talking myself into it for the last two weeks...telling myself I can't give in. You know the things that you kind of laugh about before you become a mommy, and then when you are a mommy you realize these things break your heart. When I took Macy off her bottles when she turned one, and she would cry for her "baba" it would just break my heart. So, Travis and I have been telling her on Saturday we have to say bye bye to her pacifiers. All week she just kept nodding her head yes when we would talk about it, so I didn't really think she understood. On Saturday morning, we talked with her about what a big girl she is and big girls don't use pacifiers. We had to put them in an envelope and mail them to the paci fairy so she could give them to all the little babies that needed them. We cut the tip off of them before we handed them to her to see that she wouldn't want to use them anymore. When I handed them to her to put in the envelope and she saw the tip was off of them, she just started crying. She was sooo sad :( She did put them in the envelope and we walked them to the mailbox. She said bye to them before we closed the mailbox. It was so dear! We told her that mommy, daddy, and the paci fairy are so proud of her. We also told her the paci fairy would bring her a big girl present while she was napping :) Well, she didn't nap. She cried almost the whole time in her crib for naptime. After about an hour and a half, we went up and got her. We showed her the paci fairy came and left her a big girl wagon! She loved it! We went to the park and played. At night, she was a little better without her pacifier to go to sleep. It's getting a little better. She still asks for it every now and then and we tell her she is a big girl and doesn't need it. She just kind of looks at us with this sad look. All in all, I'm so glad we did it and the first two days are over. Hopefully, each day will get a little bit easier :)
Macy putting her pacis in the envelope...thinking do I really have to Daddy???

Walking out to the mailbox...you can tell she is still pretty unsure about this.

Mailing them to the Paci Fairy

Waving bye-bye pacis!

Reading the note from the Paci Fairy about her new big girl wagon! :)

Still reading the note from the Paci Fairy....thinking I'm not so sure about this fairy...

That's a cute idea! Tatum never took to a paci, which I guess is good. So seems like you're on the way to no paci by two. Good job girlie! Macy is precious!

Awww!!! We've cut Lauren't paci time to only in the crib (nap & bedtime) and that wasn't bad at all. Good for you guys for getting rid of it. Let me know if Macy goes back to sleeping well. Lauren can have the paci until she's 20 if that's what makes her sleep so well.

Grace sucks her thumb, so I guess the paci fairy is out for us huh?!? Just kidding she is so addicted to that thumb, she may be going to college sucking on it. Ha!
